DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF NEWS)- An Off-duty Dallas Police officer was beaten unconscious Thursday night after asking a group of people to get out of an apartment complex swimming pool area.

The officer, who acts as a courtesy patrol officer at the complex while off duty, received a call about the group of people at the swimming pool even though it was closed.

When he told the group he was a police officer, some of the people then left but three or four stayed. WFAA-TV reports the people who stayed began talking about Black Lives Matter.

The officer then began taking pictures of vehicles possibly owned by the group. They then jumped and beat the officer until he fell unconscious.

The Dallas Police Department says he is expected to be okay. No arrest have been made in the incident.
