(WBAP/KLIF) — A Texas family experiences a tragic end to a patriotic program in Royse City. City officials held a “Celebrating Freedom” event at the local high school that featured music and a fireworks show. A family from Klondike, Texas, attended the event and were visiting with friends after the show.
That’s when the family’s 12-year-old daughter was struck by a vehicle while riding a skateboard, Sunday night. She was transported to Children’s Medical Center in dallas where she died.
The driver of the car that hit the girl was the girl’s father. Police say evidence indicates the incident was an accident.
