MCKINNEY (WBAP/KLIF) – Face coverings will be required in all McKinney businesses as of Wednesday afternoon as coronavirus cases in North Texas continue to rise.
Dallas and Tarrant Counties have both mandated businesses to require all employees and customers to wear masks. But Collin County is yet to issue a mask mandate. McKinney Mayor George Fuller said Monday that he is taking action on his own. He signed an Executive order to require masks in businesses. Something he said he knows will draw criticism.
“I assure you the last thing I’m trying to do is be an authority figure or have communist regime or take away civil liberties,” said Mayor Fuller. “What i want is people to stay healthy and our businesses not to be closed down.”
The Mayor said he trusts medical experts who advise the best way to avoid another shutdown is to wear a mask. He believes masks are key tools in keeping businesses open as the number of cases increase statewide.
