Attempted Lynching of a Black Man Thwarted in Bloomington, Indiana

Bloomington, Indiana (WBAP/KLIF) – A black man in Indiana took to social media to recount an alleged assault by a group of white men who threatened to “get a noose” after claiming that he and his friends had trespassed on private property over the 4th of July weekend.  Booker is a civil rights activist and member of the Monroe County Human Rights Commission.

Vauhxx Booker’s friends captured part of the incident on video.

Friends can be heard pleading for Booker several people to release him.

Part of the audio is heard as follows:

 Let him go. Please, let him go. Please let him go.”

 You go.”

“We’re going to as soon as you let him go.”

“You go.”

“I’m going to.”

“You go, and we will let him go.”

He alleges that the men assaulted him and pinned him to a tree at Lake Monroe near Bloomington, Indiana. The incident prompted protests with demonstrators calling on the alleged assailants to be arrested.

Police are investigating.

Meantime, the Mayor of Bloomington, John Hamilton, has reacted to the incident.
