DALLAS  (WBAP/KLIF News) – The beloved late President and CEO of the North Texas Food Bank will forever be on the Dallas map.

Friends, co-workers and supporters gathered Monday at South Pearl Expressway and Farmers Road, for the official renaming of Farmers to Jan Pruitt Way.

Pruitt, who served as leader of the food bank, died in 2017 at 63 after a long battle with cancer.

She had a long history of service to the community even before she joined the North Texas Food Bank in 1997.

Pruitt served as executive director of Feeding Texas and was elected chair of the Feeding America board of directors in 2014.

Under her leadership, the North Texas Food Bank started working on a plan to increase the number of meals provided to area residents to 92 million a year by 2025.
