Metroplex Shows Sunday Surge in Cases

(WBAP/KLIF) —  North Texas is approaching 104,000 positive tests for the coronavirus. Dallas County Health Officials reported 843 new cases of the virus, pushing the county total to almost 55,000 cases.

Tarrant county had 491 newly infected residents for close to 34,000 infections.  Collin county listed 215 new cases, while Denton county reported 58 additional positive tests. Both counties each have over 7,600 total cases.  The Metroplex totaled over 1,600 new cases of COVID-19

Approximately 1.6% of the nearly 30-million Texas residents have contracted COVID-19. The mortality rate continues to stay well below 2%.

Almost 8,500 Texans have died of the Coronavirus. Dallas county reported 4 new deaths, bringing the death toll to 755. Tarrant county listed 422 fatalities, Collin county 89, and Denton county 62. In all, the Metroplex shows over 1,300 residents dying of the virus.  The COVID-19 mortality rate in North Texas sits at 1.3%
