WASHINGTON – Fox Radio News (WBAP/KLIF) – President Trump has called an article in The Atlantic that claimed that Mr. Trump resisted a visit to an American military cemetery in France in 2018, and called the U.S. casualties from World War I “losers” and “suckers”, a hoax and fake news.

The allegations come from unidentified defense officials who claim the president said in 2018 that a World War One American war cemetery in France was “filled with losers,” and such service members were “suckers” for being killed.

At least one Department of Defense official has since publicly confirmed the report in its entirety.

Meantime, Fox’s Jennifer Griffin reports that according to her sources, the story may be more credible than the President says.

Meantime, on Fox’s “America’s News HQ” Saturday afternoon, Trump 2020 Senior Adviser Mercedes Schlapp (pictured right) fired back, saying that President Trump has always respected the military and been committed to supporting it. Schlapp called The Atlantic story, “fake.”

“First of all I think you see that the story is fake. You’re talking about here, you’re going to add the number of 11 people on the record; former administration officials that have worked closely with the president who know that this is not an accurate story.”

Former Secretary of Defense and former Sen. Chuck Hagel (R-NE) reacted to the article and the claims made in it during an appearance Sunday on ABC’s “This Week”.

“If they’re real they’re beneath the dignity of the Commander in Chief, truly they’re despicable. Hagle added, “Let’s go back and look at the words himself, coming out of his own mouth starting in 2016 with what he said about John McCain and what he continued to say about McCain [… uh] how he degraded the service of generals Mattis and McMaster and just recently General Kelly. This history of this president over the last 3 or 4 years is pretty clear.
