
Cresson, TX (WBAP/KLIF) – The cremated remains of a North Texas volunteer firefighter who died while helping with the California wildfires will return home today.
The remains of Cresson firefighter and EMT Diana Jones will arrive at Bourland Field Airport this afternoon, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram
A small group of family and fellow firefighters will greet her urn, while the public will have the chance to say goodbye to the fallen public servant over the next week.
Jones was 63 and left her job as a hairdresser to become a firefighter 5 years ago.
She was killed on August 31 in a vehicle accident amid wildfires in the Mendocino National Forest in northwestern California.
Before Jones’ funeral next Saturday (Sept 19) her urn will lie in the Cresson Volunteer Fire Department’s training facility where the public can visit her ahead of her public memorial service.
The funeral for Jones will be held at 10 a.m. Sept. 19 at the Granbury Church of Christ, which was her church.
