Big Tex in Place at Fair Park in an Unprecedented Fair Season

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – Big Tex is in position at the State Fair of Texas.

There were concerns that the coronavirus pandemic would cause Big Tex to miss the fair, but thanks to the work of crane operators he’s in place at Big Tex Circle.

“He comes in at a little more than 25,000 pounds so we need a big crane to raise him off the ground,” the Fair’s Karissa Condoianis said.

The Dallas icon even has upgraded accessories this year, including a new belt and updated cowboy hat, as well as a mask.

“It’s blue in color and says Howdy Folks,” Condoianis said.

Due to the pandemic, this year’s fair is limited to several drive thru events, but Texans will still have a chance to get a photo with Big Tex.
