State Republicans Ask Texas Supreme Court to Stop Early Voting Expansion

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) — Some Republicans are asking the Texas Supreme Court to block the state’s expanded early voting period.

The GOP members are looking to overturn Gov. greg abbott’s executive order which added six days to the state’s early voting period in response to the coronavirus pandemic.

Early voting was originally scheduled to begin october 19th, but is now set for october 13th.

The petitioners argue that the state’s election laws require early voting to begin on the 17th day before an election.
