Texas Closing in on 750,000 Positive COVID-19 Tests

(WBAP/KLIF) — The number of COVID-19 deaths continues to drop across Texas.  The North Texas Coronavirus death toll sits at more than 1,900, while statewide there have been nearly 15,500 fatalities.  Dallas county reports 1,017, Tarrant county 653, Collin 145, and Denton county 109.

Texas officials say over 733,000 positive tests have occurred in the lone star state with a mortality rate of 2.1%.  The DFW area has a 1.2% fatality rate.

The Metroplex had just 434 new positive COVID-19 tests, Saturday.  Dallas county issued 95 newly confirmed positives, Tarrant county 262, Collin 42, and Denton county 35.

Denton is the only county reporting whether positive tests are new cases or taken from active cases.  32 of their 35 positive tests are from active cases.

With no distinguishing factor to separate duplicate positives from the same patient, Dallas county has nearly 81,000 positives, Tarrant county over 49,000, Collin county over 13,500, while Denton reports nearly 12,000 positive tests.

Texas had nearly 3,300 positive tests, Saturday.
