COLLIN COUNTY (WBAP/KLIF News) – There’s still time to help the North Texas Food Bank’s efforts to help feed hungry families in Collin County.
The annual Collin County Peanut Butter Drive ends Wednesday, September 20th, but its been collecting the shelf-stable, kid-friendly protein for needy families all month.
According to Feeding America, there are more than 38,000 Collin County children who are food insecure.
The goal for this year is 220,000 pounds and the drive has already collected more than 170,000 pounds of peanut butter so far.
Plano Mayor Harry Larossilliere has been championing the drive and urges Collin County residents to participate.
“This is the time of year where our community comes together to spread hope with their generosity and care. We look forward to everyone in Collin County donating peanut butter to their fellow neighbor,” he said.
Last year, the drive collected 190,251 pounds of peanut butter.
Anyone who wishes to donate can drop off some jars at the NTFB’s Perot Family Campus at 3677 Mapleshade Ln. in Plano.
