Four Dallas Area Bars Shut Down

(WBAP/KLIF) — Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission (TABC) agents continue to take part in “Operation Safe Open”, intended to assure that Texas businesses are following state standards to slow the spread of COVID-19.

Under Governor Greg Abbott’s executive orders, indoor customer capacity limits are 50% for bars and 75% for restaurants.  Both groups must also enforce social distancing of at least 6 feet between groups of customers.

TABC agents conducted more than 1,200 inspections over the last week, and just four suspensions statewide. All four of those suspensions were issued to Dallas area bars. The commission’s Chris Porter says the businesses closed include Shuck ‘N Jive, Alamo Club, Bungalow, and High Fives.

Two of the bars in question violated social distancing guidelines, while two others were not authorized by Dallas County to re-open under the governor’s executive orders. Although the four Dallas bars have been closed for 30-days due to violations, Porter says most businesses have been exemplary.

He states that protecting the health and safety of Texans during this pandemic is their top priority. More than 20,000 licensed businesses have been inspected by the TABC since the beginning of May.
