DeSoto (WBAP/KLIF) – The city of DeSoto has lowered its flags to half-staff to honor Mayor Curtistene McCowan, who died suddenly this week. McCowan was the first African-American elected to a DeSoto public office in 1990, and was elected Mayor in 2016. She was diagnosed with lung cancer just three weeks ago. McCowan was 72.
