Dallas (WBAP/KLIF) – A Dallas meat packing plant was fined thousands of dollars for not reporting a fatality, injury or hospitalization as a result of a work-related incident.

Quality Sausage in West Dallas was ordered to pay $25,000 after a COVID-19 outbreak at the facility this year that led to the deaths of two people.

Blanca Parra told WFAA that she filed a wrongful death lawsuit after her fiance died in April.

The suit alleges that Hugo Dominguez died and another worker died of COVID-19 after contracting it at the plant.

Amid the lawsuit, the plant has temporarily shut down to access its operation, and will not comment on pending litigation.

The shutdown is the 2nd during the pandemic. Back in May the plant shut dow for two weeks following the aforementioned deaths among its workforce, to install plexiglass and enact some safety protocols.
