DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – Dallas and Tarrant counties reported a high number of COVID-19 deaths again on Thursday.
Dallas county reported 30 new coronavirus deaths and Tarrant County reported 14 additional deaths. This, a day after both counties combined for 48 total coronavirus deaths on Wednesday.
“These numbers are yet again a grim reminder of the need for shared sacrifice and patriotism from everyone as we work to keep our community and our country strong until the vaccine is widely administered and we can achieve the ‘herd immunity’ that will only be available when the vast majority of Americans have been vaccinated,” Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins said.
Dallas County reported 2,088 news COVID-19 cases on Thursday. 1,215 additional cases were reported in Tarrant County.
The COVID-19 hospitalization rate in North Texas sits just above 15%.
The U.S. Government endorsed Thursday mass use of Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine. Texas expects to distribute the vaccine to healthcare workers and vulnerable populations first.
