Coronavirus Cases Flood North Texas

(WBAP/KLIF) — Coronavirus cases keep piling up in North Texas as county health departments combined, Saturday, to report 4,903 new cases.  Dallas county showed more than 2,100 additional positive tests, Tarrant county almost 1,300, Collin county nearly 1,100, and Denton listed 423 new COVID-19 cases.

19 North Texans succumbed to the illness, Saturday, including country music legend Charley Pride. Dallas indicated 8 residents died, while Collin county reported 7, and Denton 4.  The Metroplex death toll sits just under 2,800.

The Lone Star state continues to see COVID-19 spike as more than 13,000 newly diagnosed cases surfaced, Saturday.  There were 4,903 additional positive tests in North Texas brings the pandemic total to almost 322,000.  Dallas county sits just under 142,000 Coronavirus cases, Tarrant county 118,000, while Collin and Denton counties combine for almost 62,000 cases.

The mortality rate continues to fall as Denton county has dropped to almost 0.5%, while the Metroplex as a whole has a 0.9% fatality rate.

Tarrant county 118,207 positive tests (1,276 new), 972 deaths, 0.8% mortality rate

Collin county 31,856 positive tests (1,093 new), 298 deaths (7 new), 0.9% mortality rate

Denton county 29,886 positive tests (423 new), 165 deaths (4 new), 0.6% mortality rate

Metroplex 321,921 positive tests (4,903 new), 2,758 deaths (19 new), 0.9% mortality rate

Texas 1,321,578 positive tests (13,254 new), 23,800 deaths (235 new), 1.8% mortality rate
