(WBAP/KLIF) — The number of available hospital beds dropped slightly in the Dallas area, Thursday, but hasn’t reached the low seen in late October. Of the 5,914 available hospital beds, 4,461 are occupied.
The ICU bed situation has eclipsed 80% capacity, as 758 of the 937 beds are occupied. That capacity percentage is slightly skewed as the number of intensive care unit beds in early December was more than a hundred higher at 1,040.
The latest numbers from 25 Dallas area hospitals was released by Mayor Eric Johnson’s office on Thursday. As of Thursday, hospital bed capacity sits at 75% which is up 3% from December 6th, however, down from 76% in late October. Ventilator use has increased slightly to 43%, however has never hit 50% capacity throughout the entire pandemic.
