Dallas (WBAP/KLIF) A new area code is coming to areas of North Texas on Friday.
The public utility commission has approved the new area code of 945 for Dallas county and some surrounding counties.
The new 945 area code will be available in areas already using the area codes of 214, 469, and 972 on Friday, January 15th.
Customers asking for new service, adding a number, or moving, may be assigned the new area code.
Current numbers will remain the same and call pricing will not change.
