Area Non-Profits and Grocery Stores Receive Bumper Crop From State Fair Garden

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – The State Fair is producing a bumper crop for those in need.

Even with COVID 19 slowing everything down in 2020, it couldn’t stop the Big Tex’ Urban Farm at Fair Park as farmers increased production by twenty five percent from 2019.

The local greenery donated enough fresh fruits and vegetables to provide almost 300,000 servings to nine Non-Profit organizations in the South Dallas area. The farm has a goal of providing one million servings by 2028.

The farm is self sustaining and using using hydroponic growing systems and outdoor planting beds and their growing methods have been featured by the prestigious University of Oxford in England.
