TARRANT COUNTY  (WBAP/KLIF News) – Toyota is giving a North Texas first responder a new car for his heroic efforts during a massive pileup on I-35W just north of downtown Fort Worth earlier this month.

The crash claimed the lives of at least six people died, dozens were injured and about 130 cars were involved in a wreck that played out on the sheets of ice that blanketed the highway the morning of February 11th.

MedStar paramedic Trey McDaniel was headed into work when his car became one of the many that were sandwiched in the chain reaction crash.

Despite being injured, McDaniel managed to crawl out of his mangled 2011 Toyota FJ and began treating crash victims.

Toyota North America will present him with a brand new 2021 Toyota 4 Runner TRD Pro at a special ceremony at Texas Toyota Grapevine, at 701 E State Hwy 114, on Thursday at 11 a.m.

Toyota and MedStar executives will be present at the event.
