Paxton Accused of ‘Obsessive, Bizarre Abuse of Power’ During Whistleblower Complaint Hearing

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton (WFAA)

Austin, TX (WBAP/KLIF) – Day two of a 2-day hearing continues in Austin today in the whistle-blower complaint against Attorney General Ken Paxton.

Former Deputy Attorney General Ryan Vassar is expected to testify. Vassar and three former colleagues say they were wrongly fired after reporting Paxton to federal authorities last year for alleged abuse of power .

The complaint centers on Paxton’s ties to Austin real estate mogul Nate Paul, who is the subject of a separate FBI investigation.

In court Monday, attorneys for the plaintiffs described Paxton’s efforts to help Paul as “obsessive” and “bizarre,” according to KXAN TV-Austin.

Paxton, who has denied wrongdoing, has called his accusers “rogue employees.”

An effort by his office to get the complaint dismissed on Monday was rejected.
