Carrollton 10-year-old Found Safe, Father Charged with Murder in Ex-Wife’s Death

CARROLLTON (WBAP/KLIF) – An AMBER Alert was cancelled late Wednesday morning after Carrollton Police announced 10-year-old Rosemary Lee Singer had been found safe.

Earlier on Wednesday the Carrollton Police Department said authorities were searching for the girl after her mother was found dead in her apartment complex on Hebron Parkway overnight.

According to Police, the girl’s father, Ronald Lee Singer, picked her up from a friend’s house early Wednesday morning in the mother’s vehicle. He was later found with the girl in a Red Oak motel.
Singer is charged with murder in the death of Rosemary’s mother, who was his ex-wife. Carrollton Police Chief Derick Miller said the AMBER Alert allowed Red Oak Police to identify the vehicle Singer was driving outside the motel.

“Family violence crime is up across the region,” said Chief Miller. “Control is at the heart of family violence and it is a very difficult construct that we have to work our way through.”

Chief Miller said Officers are working to locate family and are meeting with Child Protective Services to determine next steps for the 10-year-old.
