City of McKinney Implements Disaster Relief for Residents and Businesses Still Struggling After Last Month’s Severe Winter Storm

MCKINNEY (WBAP/KLIF News) – It’s been a few weeks since last month’s severe winter storms lest millions of Texans without power and water yet there are still hundreds of North Texans still struggling.

It’s a situation that’s prompted local leaders to act. The McKinney City Council approved a disaster relief plan for residents and businesses that were impacted.

The plan includes water bill waivers, credits and other measures.

Water customers will receive a water rate adjustment during the next billing cycle that will offer more robust relief compared to leak credits.

The North Texas Municipal Water District will waive construction and demolition material fees at their landfills and transfer stations through March 31.

Residents may deliver debris two times at no cost.
