COPPELL (WBAP/KLIF News) – The Coppell Independent School District has fired a teacher’s aide who was arrested Monday for allegedly having an inappropriate relationship with a student.
Coppell Police said 32-year-old Mercedes Genevieve Coloso is charged with sexual assault of a child, indecency with a child and improper relationship between an educator and student.
The department did not provide any details about what sparked the investigation or about the juvenile victim. Coloso worked at Coppell Middle School North.
In a statement, Coppell ISD said she will not be allowed back on campus or any district campus or facility.
CISD also said it has reported the allegations to the State Board of Educator Certification and Child Protective Services as required by law and district policy.
The district said it’s cooperating with the investigation and is disturbed by the allegations.
“Coppell ISD holds its employees to the highest standards and is deeply saddened and outraged about this situation,” the district said in the statement.
