Nominees to the Texas Public Utilities Commission Advance in State Senate

Austin (WBAP/KLIF) – Two people nominated to the Texas Public Utility Commission advanced monday toward confirmation in the Texas Senate.

A shake-up of the PUC came amid February’s power emergency, which left millions of Texans without power for days.

Finance expert Peter Lake was nominated by Governor Greg Abbott to be the next chairman, while Will McAdams was Abbott’s other selection.

Lake has worked as an Abbott appointee for the past five years on the Texas Water Development Board. McAdams is a former legislative aide who helped write policy for regulated industries such as electricity, according to the Dallas Morning News.

The nominations now go to the full senate.
