WBAP Wins NAB Crystal Radio Award

DALLAS (WBAP) – News Talk 820 AM, WBAP is the recipient of a Crystal Radio Award presented by the National Association of Broadcasters. The awards have been given since 1987 and recognize radio stations for their year-round commitment to community service.

 

WBAP’s programming in 2020 guided listeners through the Corona Virus Pandemic, Racial and Social Unrest and the Presidential Election. In addition to its regular programming the station also sponsored an on-air Small Business Forum hosted by Dallas Mavericks’ Owner Mark Cuban to give listeners tips on how to recover and re-invent their businesses.

 

WBAP created public affairs programming that focused on non-profits that were helping listeners with food, financial, medical and mental assistance, and in the midst of all the turmoil WBAP continued its Christmas tradition of raising money so patients at the Denton State Supported Living Center had gifts for the holidays. The Christmas is for Caring campaign set a record, raising more than $225,000.

 

WBAP is one of 10 winners selected from 50 finalists nationwide.  The winners were chosen by a panel of judges representing the broadcast industry, community service organizations and public relations firms.
