North Texans to Cast Ballots in Municipal Elections

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – There’s a lot at stake across North Texas in Saturday’s municipal elections.

Key races include filling the Congressional seat of the late Ron Wright, and electing a Mayor in Plano, Fort Worth and Arlington. A slew of city council seats are on the ballot in Dallas. Off-year municipal elections, however,  typically bring the lowest voter turnout.

“I think about 60% of our votes have already been cast in early voting,” said Collin County Election Administrator, Bruce Sherbet. “Turnout shouldn’t be heavy. There shouldn’t be lines in any polling places.”

On average, early voter turnout was low across North Texas, but slightly higher compared to others years with similar races on the ballot.

Collin and Dallas Counties operate out of voting centers, which allows voters to choose where they cast their ballot.
