Dallas Police Chief Presents Plan to Reduce Crime

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – The new Dallas Police Chief is moving forward with his plan to reduce violent crime in the city.

According to the Dallas Police Department, violent crime rates have risen in Dallas over the last three years.

Months after taking the department, Chief Eddie Garcia presented his crime reduction plan to the Dallas City Council on Wednesday.

“We are committed to renewing our effort to reduce violent crime in the city by developing a multi-faceted violence reduction strategy based on the best available science,” Chief Garcia insisted.

The Chief met with community members and criminologists when building his crime reduction plan. He said the department will start by increasing Police visibility and by prioritizing the arrest of repeat offenders.

The Chief set goals to reverse the current trends surrounding violent crime, to reduce the number of violent crime victims, and to improve the relationship between the community and Police.
