Dallas City Council Gets Earful On Short Term Rentals

Dallas (WBAP/KLIF) – Nearly 100 people turned out Wednesday night to speak during a Dallas City Council public hearing on the oversight of rooms and homes advertised on airbnb, vrbo, and other platforms. Dallas does not now have ordinances to regulate short-term rentals. The owners of such properties are supposed to register with the city, and pay hotel occupancy taxes, but city records show most of them don’t. The city council’s Quality of Life Committee will consider the public feedback, and then recommend a plan of action on May 17. The Dallas City Council will vote on that plan June 9.
