LANCASTER (WBAP/KLIF) – The Lancaster Police Department is investigating an Officer involved shooting that left a shooting suspect dead.
According to Police, Officers took the suspect to the hospital on Sunday for a mental evaluation after he was reportedly acting belligerent at a location off of I-35. The man was ultimately released. Hours later, Police were called to the Rosemont of Lancaster Apartments where the same man was reported to be firing shots inside a unit with a woman and children.
“The adult male had fired several rounds inside the apartment,” said Chief Sam Urbanksi. “Officers made contact with the adult male who had a gun. Officers engaged the male, which resulted in the male being fatally wounded.”
The suspect later died at a local hospital. Police haven’t said what exactly led Officers to open fire.
