Constitutional Carry Headed for Governor Abbott’s Desk

AUSTIN (WBAP/KLIF) – House Bill 1927, better known as constitutional carry, is officially headed to Governor Abbott’s desk.

The Texas House, and then the Senate, began the week by approving changes agreed on by both chambers.

“When you have prosecutors not prosecuting serious crimes, and when you have law enforcement that is not supported,” said Senator Charles Schwertner, who lifted the bill up in the Senate. “I believe it is appropriate that individuals who feel they need to have a gun on them for self-defense, should not have the impediment of having to get a license.”

The legislation does away with the need for a license to carry a gun in Texas. It is now headed for the desk of Governor Abbott. The Governor has said he’ll signed the bill into law.
