Fort Worth PD Dealing with Excessive Force Lawsuits

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) -Fort Worth police are being accused of using excessive force.

In the past two month, the police force has been accused of failing to properly train officers, leading to excess force in at least three separate lawsuits. One lawsuit even claims the department used deadly force. At this moment there are five ongoing lawsuits regarding the police department and one is on behalf of a former officer accusing the department of wrongful termination. The other four lawsuits accuse Fort Worth officers of using excessive force and even deadly force. Between 2009 and 2019, the FWPD paid out more than $2.2 million to settle lawsuits.
