North Texas Police, Good Samaritans Rescue Woman From Burning Car

BEDFORD  (WBAP/KLIF News) – Two North Texas police officers and a few Good Samaritans helped save a woman’s life this week.

Bedford Police said the woman who had suffered a medical emergency was trapped inside a burning vehicle after she’d crashed her car into a tree along Central Drive on Sunday.

North Richland Hills Police Detective Dan Hollister, who was off duty and happened to be driving by, and some bystanders were trying to help the woman when Bedford Police Officer Lane Simmons arrived minutes later and joined the effort.

The officers managed to free the woman from the inferno and saved her life. The video shows the smoke getting stronger after she was pulled from the car.

The woman is recovering in the hospital.

Beford Police said the incident highlights how officers and residents can come together to do remarkable things.

“We are thankful for the life-saving actions by our community, off-duty Det. Hollister & Bedford Officer Lane Simmons. This incident reminds us of the valiant work our offices do to help others and how first responders are never truly off-duty.”
