Hurricane Henri Prompts Emergency Declaration in New York State

ASSOCIATED PRESS – WBAP/KLIF – Now declared a hurricane, Henri is picking up steam with sustained 75 mile an hour winds and poised to make landfall in New York or New England states on Sunday – still to early to call a definite landfall location.  Storm surges to five feet with a full moon, and heavy rainfall with flooding is expected in the region.

Governor Cuomo Saturday declared many areas of New York state as in emergency zones, and he urged residents in low lying areas to make their way to higher ground immediately.   New York state’s Fire Island is under voluntary evacuation order.
