Hurricane Henri Blows Ashore as Tropical Storm – New England

ASSOCIATED PRESS – Hurricane Henri blew ashore Sunday morning in New England, quickly downgraded to a tropical storm with sustained 70 mile an hour winds.   Henri is expected to blow out power to hundreds of thousands of people, with 40 million people in the nation’s northeast expected to feel the full brunt of this storm in the form of flooding and downed power lines.

Meteorologists warn ground in the area of impact is already thoroughly saturated by recent rain events, so widespread flooding and downed trees are likely – taking longer for restoration than a hurricane’s usual wind damage.

President Biden has approved emergency declarations for Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Connecticut.
