White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki said on Monday that it was “irresponsible” to say that there are Americans stranded in Afghanistan. National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan said on Monday that al Qaeda’s capability to coordinate an attack on the United States is not present in the country today, and Secretary of State Antony Blinken said on Sunday that al Qaeda is still ever present in Afghanistan.
