Over the weekend, the wife of retired Lt. Col. Allen West, former Texas GOP Chairman and current candidate for Governor, was arrested on charges of DWI (driving while intoxicated). In the subsequent hours that followed, West was active on social media defending his wife and going after Dallas Police for the arrest, saying that his wife had only had water and lemonade while she was out, and provided a receipt that would seem to confirm the story. West demands an apology from the Dallas PD, but the chief and even Mike Mata from the Police Association have fired back and defended the officer that made the arrest, saying that she did the right thing.
