IRVING (WBAP/KLIF) – The Irving Police Department is investigating multiple reports of a terroristic threat made on social media towards Irving Nimitz High school on Sunday.
According to police, the threat involved a picture of a rifle round and a presumed grenade posted to social media. The students who are believed to have made the threat were contacted by Police and it was learned the supposed grenade was a car accessory gear shifter. Officer Robert Reeves said the two students will face criminal charges.
“Terroristic threat is the same thing as saying fire in a movie theatre and causing people to be alarmed,” said Officer Reeves. “People were pulling their kids out of school [Monday] so the community was definitely alarmed by the actions of these young men.”
Police said Monday that there is no continued threat towards Nimitz High School.
