Plano PD, Garland PD and FBI Connect Lyft Driver Death, Plano Police HQ Shooting as “Possible Act of Terrorism”

PLANO (WBAP/KLIF)- Police confirmed that the Sunday killing of a Lyft driver in Garland and a shooting inside the Plano Police department are related.

32-year-old Imran Ali Rasheed is the suspect. Police say Rasheed shot and killed 26-year-old Lyft driver Isabella Lewis after she picked him up in Garland.

Officials said she and Rasheed did not know each other.

Police say they found Lewis’ stolen car outside Plano PD with a note in it. FBI Special Agent  Mathew DeSarno said they are investigating Rasheed’s motive as a “possible act of terrorism” but didn’t specify what the note said.

“Rasheed may have been inspired by a foreign terrorist organization to commit these acts and that is really as much specifics as I can give about that,” said DeSarno.

Police say Rasheed died from his injuries at the hospital after Plano police shot him, following his shooting at the police department.

Police believe Rasheed was acting alone and didn’t have assistance but police say the investigation is ongoing.

The FBI did say Rasheed was investigated from 2010 to 2013 to determine if he was a terroristic threat to America or if he was supporting terrorist organizations. That investigation did not conclude whether he posed a threat in those years.
