Health Officials Closely Watching COVID Cases in Texas Schools

(WBAP/KLIF) — Health and education officials are watching COVID cases among students and school staff in Texas. Less than a month into the school year, Texas schools districts have seen a record number of COVID-19 cases in the classroom.  The state says last week more than 27-thousand students and 4-thousand staff members had tested positive.

Multiple North Texas districts have some of the highest student case totals in the state, including Garland, Frisco, and Fort Worth.  According to Fort Worth ISD, 5-thousand students and teachers are in quarantine, while this week 500 students tested positive.

There are some 3.7 million all-time confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Texas… according to John Hopkins University.
