According to UT Southwestern Medical Center’s latest model, there will be a slight increase in COVID-19 hospitalizations in Dallas County before a modest decrease to the current level of about 1,000 by September 23rd.
That’s about 200 less hospitalizations than what was forecasted for the deadline of September 16th.
The model also predicts 1,100 new cases per day by September 23rd.
It’s a different outlook for Tarrant County. The model predicts a continued increase in COVID-19 hospitalizations for the next few weeks.
Forecasters predict around 1,4000 hospitalizations expected by September 23rd. That’s about 100 more than what had been forecasted by September 16th.
The model also predicts 1,300 new cases per day by September 23rd.
When it comes to pediatric hospitalizations, the model shows admissions are more than double January volumes and continue to grow.
While hospitals and their staff remain strained across North Texas amid the surge, health experts are crediting vaccinations and mask wearing for the expected plateau in Dallas County.
