Attorney for Accused Serial Killer Billy Chemirmir Arrested on Prostitution Charge

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF News) – Jury selection is set to being Wednesday in the trial of accused North Texas serial killer Billy Chemirmir and one of his attorneys is already facing legal trouble.

KYTX TV in Tyler reports 48-year-old Phillip Wayne Hayes of Dallas was arrested on suspicion of soliciting prostitution last week in Smith County.

According to Smith County Jail records, Hayes was booked and released on Friday on a $2,000 bond.

He was in Tyler representing William Davis, the former nurse who was recently convicted for killing four patients by injecting them with air into their arterial systems.

Hayes was caught in a sting when he allegedly responded to an ad Smith County undercover officers posted on a website used for human trafficking and prostitution, according to the arrest affidavit.

The document said Hayes exchanged texts with the undercover officer on October 5th, during Davis’ trial, and his identity was confirmed by using his phone number.

Hayes allegedly asked for an hour of time for him to pay $110 for sex. Police arrested him when he arrived at the designated location.

According to KYTX, authorities decided to get a warrant at a later date due to Davis’ trial which ended October 27.

It’s unclear if Hayes’ legal trouble will impact his involvement in the Chemirmir trial.
