Federal Investigators Launch Probe in Carroll ISD

SOUTHLAKE (WBAP/KLIF) – A branch of the U.S. Department of Education is launching a civil rights investigation in the Carroll ISD.

“We can confirm that OCR has opened three investigations at the Carroll Independent School District into allegations related to discrimination based on race, color, national origin, or sex,” said a spokesperson for the education department’s Office for Civil Rights.

A spokesperson for the district confirmed the investigations on Wednesday, but couldn’t expand on the specifics because of privacy laws.

“Our district is fully cooperating with this process and diligently pulling all documents requested,” said Spokesperson Donna Fitzgerald. “These OCRs are student situations; therefore, due to the Federal Act to Education Privacy Act, we are unable to provide or share any more specifics at this time. Our focus will always be what is best for our students as we prepare them for their next steps in their educational journey.”

Carroll ISD in Southlake has received recent national attention surrounding racial equality.
