(WBAP/KLIF) — Democrat-run states are making a push to ban the word “alien” from describing those entering the country illegally. California and Colorado have banned state agencies from using the word, claiming it is demeaning, dehumanizing, and can have a negative impact on the treatment of immigrants.
Republican-led states, such as Texas, have elected to leave the term in place, electing not to use new language that is designed to deceive the public and influence debate on emotion rather than fact. The GOP say the left is trying to deceive the public by using language to misrepresent illegal aliens.
The Biden Administration took a similar step to remove the term for federal agencies. The word became a focal point of debate in several states earlier this year due to the southern border crisis.
