Little Elm ISD Holding Listening Session to Address Facts and Concerns Over Chaotic Protest

UPDATE 10:45 am: Little Elm ISD Superintendent David Gallagher held a press conference ahead of Tuesday night’s listening session.

He addressed concerns over statements from students that it took a walkout for officials to listen.

“We’ve got to put a plan in place which we have. We’re looking forward to the independent reviews to see what’s going to come out of those…how we can improve. At the end of the day, our students need to be heard and need to be valued,” he said.

The meeting is in the Little Elm High School auditorium at 6 pm.

LITTLE ELM (WBAP/KLIF News) – Amid concerns over a recent protest that spiraled out of control, the Little Elm Independent School District is holding a listening session in the high school’s auditorium tonight.

Four students were arrested, some pepper sprayed and tazed, during a planned walkout November 19 over allegations about a sexual assault involving a student.

In a video statement, Little Elm Mayor Curtis Cornelious and Little Elm ISD Superintendent Daniel Gallagher said the chaos began after students tried to break into an administrators office and assaulted three officers.

Students said they’re upset over what they’re calling a lack of action about the alleged assault by the district. A few dozen students walked out of classes on Monday.

The district said rumors fueling the unrest are not accurate.

Some parents also voiced concerns over the way district officials are handling the situation.

In addition to Tuesday night’s meeting, the district created a fact-checking website about the ordeal at LittleElmFacts.org.
