Mesquite Officer Killed in the Line of Duty

UPDATE: Mesquite Police Department holds an official memorial for Officer Richard Houston II Sunday 8pm, in front of the Mesquite Police Department offices. The 21 year veteran police officer leaves behind a wife and three children; online donations accounts for his family have been set up, and the public will have the opportunity to donate as well to the family at the event Sunday night, if so inclined.

MESQUITE (WBAP/KLIF) – A Mesquite Police Officer was shot and killed Friday afternoon while responding to a disturbance call in the parking lot of an Albertson’s Grocery store. The suspect involved in the shooting was also injured and taken to a local hospital.

Mesquite Police Chief David Gill says “it was a senseless act of violence that ripped a loving father and husband away from his family.” The officer was a 21-year veteran of the force.
