Small Plane Crash-Lands In East Texas

Cleveland, TX (AP) – A small plane crash-landed next to a busy southeast Texas highway Thursday afternoon. The aircraft lost power while in flight about 2:00 PM, and clipped a sport utility vehicle on Interstate 69 while the pilot attempted an emergency landing. It came down in a field right next to the highway about four miles north of Cleveland, Texas northeast of Houston. The Texas Department of Public Safety says the plane was flying from Jennings, Louisiana, to Junction, Texas when it suddenly lost power and altitude. The front landing gear struck an SUV on the highway before the pilot managed to crash-land in a nearby field. There were no injuries.
