Statler Hosts as a Holiday Donation Collection Site for Multiple Organizations in Need

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF)- The Statler is partnering with a number of charitable organizations to give back this holiday season with a series of on-site donation opportunities. Situated in the heart of downtown Dallas, the hotel and residences are making it easy for guests and residents of Dallas to donate to a number of charities through one central location.

“The holidays are a time to reflect and show our gratitude toward friends, family and our community,” said Adam Gollub, general manager of The Statler. “Providing our guests with an easy, collective opportunity to give back all in one location allows us to spread some additional warmth and light during this joyful time of the year.”

The Statler is located at 1914 Commerce Street, Dallas, TX 75201 and will be accepting on-site donations into the new year in the Garden Court Lobby area of the hotel. Donation opportunities include:

Marine Corps Toys For Tots

Since 1947, 272 million children have benefited from Toys for Tots which to-date has distributed 604 million toys to families during the holidays who otherwise would not have Christmas gifts for their children. Items needed are new, unwrapped toys for ages 0 – 12.  The Statler will be working to fill 10 donation boxes through December 10th.

North Texas Food Bank

More than 800,000 hungry people live here in North Texas, with 300,000 of those being kids.  Just this year alone, North Texas Food Bank has already provided more than 125 million healthy meals to families in need across all ages, with almost 46 million of those benefiting children. Items needed are nonperishable food items with high nutritional value. Please do not bring any food items in glass containers, have a broken seal or have been used, or are expired. The Statler will collect donations through January 2nd.

BDays R All Smiles

Since 2007 and with five chapters across Dallas, San Antonio, El Paso, Miami, and Juarez Mexico, BDays R All Smiles have been providing monthly birthday parties for underprivileged children who otherwise will not have these celebrations. Volunteers are needed to help host parties that include birthday cake, presents, food, help with homework and time spent with the children. For the holidays, there will be something special for both Thanksgiving and Christmas. Birthday party supplies will be collected into the new year.

Buckner Shoes for Orphan Souls

The largest humanitarian aid project of Buckner International, Buckner Shoes for Orphan Souls provides new shoes and socks to orphans and vulnerable children. Donations are shared with orphans in need in the United States as well as across the globe, with 20% of donations always staying in the U.S.  Items needed are new shoes and socks of various sizes and types. The Statler is collecting through the second week of January.

The Bridge Homeless Recovery Center

The Bridge is open 24/7 and is the only shelter in Dallas to provide day services to homeless adults. Services include hot showers, nutritious meals, and haircuts; as well as physical and mental health evaluations and care management for over 800 daily and 300 per night while also implementing a Care and Housing Plan, or strategy for exiting homelessness. Items needed are blankets, coats, shoes, socks, scarfs, gloves, hats, etc. as well as toiletry items such as toothbrushes and toothpaste. Collections will go through Christmas.
