
Arlington, TX (WBAP/KLIF) – The Mansfield ISD student charged in the October shooting at Timberview High School that injured 3 people is back behind bars.
18-year old Timothy Simpkins reportedly violated the terms of his bond.
While awaiting trial Simpkins was ordered to refrain from using drugs or alcohol, but a recent urinalysis came back positive for a prohibited substance, according to court records obtained by the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.
On october 6th, Simpkins opened fire in a classroom after viral video showed him being beaten up by another student. He is charged with three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
In the aftermath of the shooting, Simpkins’ family alleged that he had been a victim of bullying. While his mother and grandmother did not condone the fact that he brought a gun to school, they said that he was trying to protect himself.
15-year old Zacchaeus Selby was the most seriously wounded during the shooting. Also injured was a 25-year old teacher, Calvin Pettitt and another student who was grazed by a bullet.
Meantime, the Arlington Police Department has reported that their investigation into the shooting and circumstances surrounding found no evidence that he had been bullied and that Simpkins was engaged in quote “high risk behavior” which led to the shooting.
Simpkins’ family attorney disputed the police department’s claim.
